THE LITTLE GREEN PILL (Mentzer) The little green pill found it’s way into my pocket On an evening just like this The moon grinned slyly behind a big black cloud And the pipes let out a little hiss I wondered to my self “now, what the hell Is this little green pill doing there, In my pocket with all of my spare change, A knife and a lock of your hair?” Now the little green pill was in the palm of my hand With a promise I meant to keep The moon laughed out loud from behind his old cloud And the floors began to creak I wondered to myself “now what would happen if I had a little sip of diet coke?” Then all of a sudden that pill was gone I felt a little lump in the back of my throat Solo Little green pill
2.
OUTTA MY SKIN (and Into Your Arms) (Mentzer) Outta my skin And into your arms Like a vampire girl With a devil’s charms Like a slithering snake On a tombstone warms Outta my skin And into your arms
3.
ROBOTS vs. MY SOUL (Mentzer) I’m workin’ so hard at growin’ up I’ve lost control of my kids I better go buy me a brand new truck Just like the Jones’ did My wife is starvin’ so she can stay thin But she’s bustin’ outta her pants Then Wal-Mart puts Twinkies out at half price So we do the junk food dance I’m never gonna get up again Pass the remote control The man on the screen says to vote for him The robots vs. my soul We go to the polls and vote for the guy With the biggest and shiniest hair I don’t even have the slightest idea Of who he is I don’t care I spend my welfare at the corner store For gas to fill up my tank There ain’t nothin’ left by the time I get through I ain’t never been to a bank There ain’t no sense in getting a job My government pays my toll The man on the TV will take care of me The robots vs. my soul

DREAM IN HER HEAD (Mentzer) She dreams of the man that he used to be When they were so young long ago They grew apart together Like two folks who are strangers Instead of together you know She wonders if he feels the same way as she Was that his voice that she just heard? He works in the field And she cooks his meals And they never share a kind word There’s a dream in her head As she lies in her bed And the hair on her head’s Wet with tears Because the dream in her head As the sun’s setting red The moon rises instead Go the years

HIGH ON THE HILL (Mentzer) Little bird On the wing You touch the sky And it makes me want to sing Until tomorrow Little girl Hold my hand You smile at me And I feel like superman Until tomorrow Did you ever wonder? It comes as no surprise Did you ever take a look, Through someone else’s eyes Did you ever wonder, When time is standing still Have you ever spent the day High on the hill? Little bird In the tree You sound the word And it makes no sense to me Until tomorrow Little girl In the sun We count the graves And it makes me want to run Until tomorrow CHORUS SOLO (verse) CHORUS High on the hill (3X)

So Long 05:16
SO LONG by Mentzer I’ll sit here by the fire, love And hold your pale white hand I’ll sit here by the fire love But I’ll no more be your man We sit together, look away No longer are we one We sit together, look away Ashamed at what we have done Turn away, turn away Listen to my song Turn away your milky white face Our love has gone so wrong So long

about

Singer, songwriter, multi-instumentalist, Tony Mentzer, a native of West Middlesex, PA, was a founding member of regionally successful rock band, The Infidels, before leaving in 1985. It was around this time that Tony began to experiment with the wonders of home 4-track recording and though the equipment has changed over the years, the mission has remained the same. And its a secret mission.

This is the second release in the 2013 Bakery/Crabapple Records joint project to reissue all or most of Tony's home-recorded solo work spanning the late 80's through 2013.

We started our reissue series with Tony's oldest full album release, 1989's Varicose Brains and now book-end that with Tony's brand new, fresh out of the oven 2013 offering TEST PHASE 5.

Keeping in line with his prolific condition, Mentzer already has something new out, bringing his catalog full circle to the now without (thankfully) taking the shortest path…don’t take the straightest line and certainly don’t color within them. He doesn’t. Swell on…
